Fall Fishing, Covid-19 and Politics

I recently returned home from my annual pilgrimage to fish the South Fork in Idaho. An entire week of fishing and friends. Any how while I sat in the backyard enjoying morning coffee I had two thoughts swirling around my slightly caffeinated mind.

The first was, man I have only been home for a couple of days and Im already feeling "beat down" with all that's going on in the world. There seems to be no escape from it all. Politics, Covid-19, Riots........ I mean you can't even enjoy sports anymore without being reminded of the madness. Thats when I realized how therapeutic it was to be away from it all!!

As I watched the leaves and acorns fall from the Oaktrees the second thought came to me.....FALL IS COMING!!!!

If you are in need of some "Therapy" we have 2 great options for you.

Lower Sac- We look forward every year to fishing the Sac in the Fall for the egg drop. We fish behind spawning salmon with egg patterns for big wild rainbow trout.
Rate- $400 full day

Klamath- The Klamath River is about as dependable as they come. I seriously can't remember the last time I had a slow day there. We fish it in October for the famed "Half Pounders" with some adults sprinkled in. Then from November on its mostly adult Steelhead! Just keep in mind with last years very mild winter we fished the Klamath well into March!!
Rate- $425 full day

I am starting to book days now so don't wait!!! This so "Therapeutic" it should be covered by your Health Insurance!!!

Mokelumne River Fly Fishing!

Its time to book a date to fish the Moke! We all remember what happened last year..... the river got blown out before we ever got to fish and it didn't come down until well into the summer!

This is full day float trip for 1 or 2 anglers. There are plenty of opportunities to hop out of the boat and do some wading if that's your thing but definitely not required.

Our target is resident trout and steelhead. Our fishing methods are fishing under an indicator and swinging. I love the days that the fish are in a mood to GRAB a swung fly!

Everything is provided, rods/reels, flies and all terminal tackle, lunch , snacks and drinks. All you need is a license and a Steelhead Report Card.

BOOK IT NOW!!

January and February dates available

$400/ day for 1 or 2 anglers

Spring Fishing

Wow what a year its been! First we saw some of the most destructive fires we have ever seen. Then most recently here in Redding we got hit with more snow than we have had in 50 years causing tons of trees to come down and power to go out for thousands of people.

I don't know about you but Im ready for Spring! Below Im highlighting our most popular Spring fishing destinations.

The Klamath

If you want to throw BIG dry flies to EAGER trout then this is where you want to go! The big Stoneflies, both Salmon Flies and Golden Stoneflies come out in May and the usually wary trout loose their minds and go on a feeding frenzy. They will rise all day long smashing your fly! This is a very good choice for folks who don't yet have a "perfect presentation". Its the most fun you can have with your pants on!!!

The Sac

Spring time on the Lower Sac is NOT a date on the calendar. Its simply a string of sunny 70 degree days. In fact we already had a short "Spring" back in January. For a couple of weeks we were seeing really good hatches of PMDs, Caddis and Beatis. My point is don't wait for a certain date just watch the weather. This is in my opinion the best time to fish the Sac.The hatches are strong and often times you can find dry fly fishing and opportunities to "sight fish" to fish taking dries or emergers.
